How to Create a Google Analytics Account

This tutorial covers how to create your Google Analytics Account and how to install on your website with Blazonco.

Step 1
To begin, you'll need a Google Analytics account. To set up a Google Analytics account, go to google.com/analytics. If you already have a Google Analytics account, skip to step 5.

Step 2
To set up a Google Analytics account, you must first create a general Google Account. You can create a Google Account for yourself here (https://accounts.google.com/SignUp?continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&hl=en). If you use Gmail or any other Google products, you most likely already have a Google account, as all of Google's products are linked together in this way.

Step 3
Once you've created your general Google Account, return to google.com/analytics. In the top right corner, click “Access Google Analytics.”

Step 4
Follow the steps to create your Google Analytics account. This will involve entering your website name, website address, industry category, and a few other details. If you aren't sure what to do, Google's support section can help. (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1042508)

Step 5
Locate your Google Analytics tracking code and find your unique Tracking ID. This ID number is located in the code and is typically also shown on the code page in Google Analytics. The Tracking ID will look like this, only the x's will be numbers.

UA-xxxxxxxx-x  *You'll need this tracking ID for the next step.

Step 6
Log in to your site's admin dashboard (https://admin.blazonco.com).

Step 7
Click “Add-Ons” in the main navigation, and then click “Available Add-Ons.”

Step 8
Scroll down and find the add-on called “Google Analytics.” Click “Activate.”

Step 9
Enter your Google Analytics Tracking ID in the field titled “Google Analytics Account Code.”
If you'd like to track when visitors leave your site, select “Yes” for “Google Analytics Outbound Link Tracking,” and then select any of the exit methods you'd like Google Analytics to track. If you're not sure about this, it's best to simply select all of them to let Google track everything.

Step 10
Click “Save and Activate.” Google Analytics is now installed on your site. It will typically take a few hours for data to begin appearing in your Google Analytics account.
