Confirm that you have internet access and that you're entering the full website domain name, including the “.com” or “.net” or “.org” at the end. If your site was launched within the past 24 to 48 hours, your site may not have fully propagated yet. In most cases, sites are available to view within just a few minutes or hours after launch, but on rare occasions, this process can take up to 48 hours. If this is the case, you may need to wait 24 to 48 hours for full propagation to occur, at which time your site will be live and accessible.

What is Google?
Google is a search engine. It allows users like you and me to find what we're looking for online. Without search engines like Google, the internet would not be as connected, accessible, and useful as it is today. Think of Google as a catalog that lists everything the internet has to offer.
Google is constantly adding new websites to its index. Google does this by sending “bots” throughout the internet to crawl websites and catalog every page, paragraph, link, and image found. There are more than 60 trillion web pages in Google, and this number is growing every day.
Google uses a highly complex algorithm to sort and return specific web pages for any given search query. The details of how this algorithm works are not made public. No one can directly control where a particular website will display in Google's search results for a given search query. Google decides which websites to show first based on hundreds of factors, many of which are unknown.

Why is my website not showing up in Google?
This is a difficult question to answer. There are hundreds of factors that influence where a particular website will show up in search results. Chances are good that your website actually is showing up somewhere in Google's index, but it may be buried beneath dozens or hundreds of other websites. In other words, your website is probably there, but it's not ranked high enough in search results for you to easily find it or see it.
In most cases, this is simply due to the competitive nature of the internet. For example, if you've just launched a new ecommerce store selling women's shoes, you may be hoping that your website will appear when you enter the keyword “women's shoes” in Google. Unfortunately, there are many large retailers and successful brands that are already dominating Google's search results for the keyword “women's shoes.” Due to the success and popularity of these competitors, it's unlikely your small ecommerce store will ever appear on the first page of Google for that keyword—at least, not without many months or years of effort and a substantial marketing budget!
Here are a few more tips for finding your website in Google.
If your website is new or was launched within the past 30 days, Google may not have had a chance to add your site to the search index. Read the answer to the next question, “How do I put my site in Google?” to learn what you can do about this.
If you're entering a very generic search term, such as “women's shoes” from the example above, you will probably see only major retailers and big brands ranking in Google's search results. These companies have big marketing budgets and usually possess the experience and expertise to claim the top spots in search engines. They often have entire in-house teams and departments working to make sure they stay on top! So, what can you do? For starters, it's always a good idea to try to carve out a unique niche for your company. What can you do to set yourself apart from the big players in your industry?
If your business is located in a particular city or neighborhood, you may have better luck finding your site by searching a specific keyword plus the city name, like “women's shoe store Riverside.” You likely won't see as many big national competitors appearing in results for these local keywords, although even these keywords can be highly competitive, depending on where you're located.
If you're not actively promoting your website, regularly adding new content, or carrying out any other ongoing optimization work on your site, it's unlikely that your site will move higher in search engines. It takes time and effort to improve your site's rank, and there are a number of best practices to follow that can help. How do I put my site in Google?
Google may have already added your website to its search index. Major search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo send “bots” throughout the internet looking for new sites and content to add to their search results. Google is very good at finding newly-launched websites and including them into its index. As a result, if you're promoting your website online at all, Google will most likely find you within 30 to 45 days after your site is launched.
In some cases, you may not want to wait this long. Or perhaps you haven't been promoting your site at all, and you've noticed that after 30 to 45 days, your site still is not indexed in Google. If this is the case, you can ask Google to crawl your site directly. The process for how to do so is outlined here. You'll need a Google Webmaster Tools account in order to submit your site.

I received an email saying my site isn't showing up in Google or that my site isn't built right to show up in Google. The person who emailed me offered to fix it. What's wrong with my site?
There's most likely nothing wrong with your site. The email you received is probably a spam message meant to trick you into signing up for services that you don't need. Unfortunately, there are many shady “online marketing firms” out there that will offer to “fix” your website for a fee. They try to scare business owners by making very broad, generic claims like “I see your website isn't showing up in Google.” These claims are immediately found to be false as soon as our team takes a look at the site in question. We see hundreds of spam messages like these every month. The best thing to do is ignore them.
What is SEO?
SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” SEO is a marketing discipline focused on improving a website's performance in search engines with the goal of increasing website visitors, customers, or conversions.
In general, there are two types of SEO. Both are important.
Defensive SEO: Defensive SEO is about making sure there are no errors or problems with your website that may be preventing your site from performing well in search engines. This type of SEO happens behind the scenes, and is usually carried out through a website audit that checks for known problems.
Active SEO: Active SEO refers to the ongoing process of continuously updating your website to improve search engine placement and performance. This usually involves a combination of content creation, social media management, business listing syndication, blogging, and other similar activities.
Is my website search engine optimized?
As mentioned in the answer to the question “What is SEO?” above, there are two types of SEO, defensive and active. Every Blazonco website is built with defensive SEO in mind, using clean code and a solid internal linking structure. As a result, our sites are “search engine ready” right from the start.
But defensive SEO will only take your website so far. In most cases, defensive SEO is not enough to get your site onto the first page of Google's search results. What are keywords?
In the world of internet marketing, the word “keyword” most commonly refers to a search query entered into a search engine. Put simply, a keyword is a word or phrase someone might search for in Google to find your website.
For example, someone who wants to purchase a black leather jacket might go to Google and do a search for “black leather jacket.” In this example, “black leather jacket” is a keyword. Sometimes search queries composed of multiple individual words are referred to as keyword phrases.
Keywords can be used within the content of a website to help tell Google and other search engines what your site is about.

Can I add more keywords to my site?
Yes! A good way to add keywords to your site is to create a new page on your site and write a few hundred words of content focused on a particular topic. The topic, ideally, should be whatever keyword you want to focus on, like 'black leather jackets” or “gutter cleaning in Wisconsin.”
Make sure to use the keyword phrase two or three times in the body content of the page. Include it in the headline of the page and the title tag as well. But don't overdo it—if you use the keyword more then three or four times on the same page, Google may penalize your site for “keyword stuffing,” which is a common spam tactic.
When I see my website in search engines, the name of the site is cut off or incorrect. Why is this? Can I change it?
The “website snippet” that appears in search results is typically composed of your site's title tag, domain name, and meta description. If the name of your site isn't showing up properly in Google, this is a sign that there may be something amiss with your site's title tag.
You can change the title tag of your site by logging in to the Blazonco admin tool and navigating to the “Settings” tab. Once there, you can edit the “Site Title” and “Tagline” fields. These fields comprise the title tag of your website's homepage.
Keep in mind that Google will only show the first 60 to 65 characters of your title tag. For best results, limit your title tag to about 60 characters, including spaces.
Important Note: Google has stated that they will sometimes ignore a site's title tag when displaying the site name in search results. This typically occurs if Google feels that the title tag is not relevant to the user's search query. In these cases, Google may substitute another snippet of text from your site in place of the title tag. If this is happening, the best thing to do is adjust your title tag to be more relevant.
When I see my website in search engines, the paragraph of text beneath it is cut off or doesn't say what I want it to say. Why is this? Can I change it?
