There have been a lot of questions and concerns regarding the recent Google Algorithm update to favor sites that are Mobile Friendly. This message was shared with our internal team with the intent to help alleviate clients concerns and help answer questions regarding our platforms search optimization strategies.
We continually make changes to the core Blazonco codebase to address the constant changes in google's search algorithm.
With regards to Google's most recent update to factor in mobile friendliness, some of our client's sites are ranking well if not better for mobile search results. Client web sites that are not mobile response have seen only minor dips in mobile search ranking and subsequent traffic... So far.
Specifically Clients with mobile responsive sites are generally ranking a little bit better but only in mobile search results.
What if my site is not mobile-friendly, will this impact my desktop rankings as well?
Answer: No, at this time it will only impact mobile searchers and will have no impact on your Desktop or Tablet search rankings.
Do I need to make my website mobile friendly to rank well?
Answer: With Google, no one is certain what tomorrow's algorithm will bring. But Google claims the new requirements only adjust the search weights. "While the mobile-friendly change is important, we still use a variety of signals to rank search results," a Google spokeswoman wrote in an email. "The intent of the search query is still a very strong signal — so if a page with high quality content is not mobile-friendly, it could still rank high if it has great content for the query."
Ultimately mobile search will likely overtake desktop search volume this year (2015). Mobile search is nearing 50% of all search volume already. Having your site be mobile responsive is the easiest way to remain relevant for mobile search. However quality relevant keyword rich content on Blazonco's code architecture with inbound links from trusted 3rd party websites is the best long term strategy.
Google will continue to update their algorithm in their attempt to provide better "results" to searchers (and their shareholders). They have already done so in the time it took you to read this article. The KEY to ranking well is, and always will be, QUALITY CONTENT.
If you'd like an assessment of your site's mobile search rank and a quote on making the website responsive (mobile friendly). We would be happy to help.
